On the occasion of a double anniversary, two of the most famous anime franchises have teamed up for a special project. The television series 名探偵コナン (Detective Conan) is celebrating its 30th anniversary, while 僕のヒーローアカデミア (My Hero Academia) is looking back on ten years. To mark this occasion, a special collaboration has been announced, accompanied by a newly produced video and exclusive illustrations from the original authors.
The centerpiece of the collaboration is a special video featuring the protagonists of both series together. The voice actors of the characters, Minami Takayama as Conan Edogawa and Daiki Yamashita as Izuku Midoriya (Deku), deliver a joint narration. A key line in the production is "Futatsu no jikan ga hitotsu ni naru" (approximately: "Two times become one"), which symbolically merges the moment of these two anniversaries.
A special highlight are the drawings created specifically for this collaboration by the creators of both series. Gosho Aoyama, author of Detective Conan, has created an illustration of Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia. In return, Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, drew a character of Conan Edogawa. These visual contributions represent a mutual appreciation between the authors and can also be seen in the released video.
The illustrations by Aoyama and Horikoshi will also be published in the upcoming issues of the respective series' magazines. The drawing is scheduled for the 週刊少年ジャンプ (Weekly Shonen Jump) issue of February 16. The 週刊少年サンデー (Weekly Shonen Sunday) issue of February 18 will also feature a special page on this crossover.
The collaboration is part of broader celebrations for the anniversaries of both anime. For Detective Conan, plans include a collaboration episode with the "Birdman Contest" event by broadcaster Yomiuri TV, as well as a two-hour special, the first of its kind in a decade. My Hero Academia will air a special episode titled "More" on May 2, which is based on a story from the final manga volume.
