According to the 28th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine, the highly anticipated MF Ghost manga by Shuuichi Shigeno will resume in the publication's 29th issue on June 19. The series had been temporarily suspended starting with the 21st issue in April.
Readers were eager for updates, as the manga, which had paused earlier this year, hinted that the story was heading toward its "final battle." In his afterword, Shigeno provided insight into the story's progress, noting that MF Ghost is about "four-fifths" complete. However, he expressed concern about whether he would be able to create something satisfactory until the manga's final section.
Shigeno's health had previously affected the manga's schedule, leading to a hiatus in November 2022. Fortunately, the series returned on February 20, much to the delight of fans. Shigeno's MF Ghost first appeared in Weekly Young Magazine in September 2017 and has since reached its 17th.
The story, set in the near future where sustainable energy has largely replaced combustion engines, follows Kanata Rivington, a half-Japanese character who embarks on a journey to succeed in the MFG racing competition as well as to find his father.
