The popular illustrator Mika Pikazo, known for her work on "Fire Emblem Engage" and numerous VTuber designs, is bringing her own project to the screen: The production of a TV anime based on her near-future science fiction "Level Robochika" (stylized as RE:BEL ROBOTICA) has been officially announced. Pikazo is responsible for the story and character concepts.
Originally released as a doujinshi at Comiket 2017, the work was expanded in 2019 with the help of screenwriter Ryo Yoshigami ("PSYCHO-PASS") under the title "Level Robochika Episode #β One day." Two novel versions followed in 2022: "RE:BEL ROBOTICA 0" by Pikazo and Yoshigami, and "RE:BEL ROBOTICA" by Gakuto Mikumo, both published by Shinchosha.
The story is set in 2050 in Tokyo's Shibuya district. In this world, so-called Meta Reality (MR) is ubiquitous—a technology that makes digital data perceptible through the five senses, blending reality and virtuality. The protagonist Taiki suffers from a congenital MR defect that cuts him off from the benefits of this technology. One day, he encounters the mysterious Lily, a highly advanced AI in the form of a girl who shakes the world. The anime will tell an independent story within this universe, building upon and expanding the foundations of the source material.
Mika Pikazo herself expressed her excitement: "I created this work while contemplating the concept of happiness since childhood and asking how to find something meaningful in a world full of duties and limitations. It depicts hopeful yet strange moments in the daily lives of cute characters and many different people. Look forward to the original anime 'Level Robochika'!"
A first preview will be offered at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, taking place from July 2 to 5. Pikazo serves as the key visual illustrator for the entire event. At the booth (West Hall, Booth WH-1364), visitors can obtain a specially crafted brochure for the anime and view a teaser trailer with scenes from the current production. Additionally, a panel titled "Amuse Creative Studio Presents: New Anime Launch Event" is scheduled for July 4 from 3:45 PM to 5:05 PM (local time) in Room 404AB, featuring Pikazo alongside author SJH ("Elecseed") and illustrator ZHENA.
The anime production is being developed as an original IP by the AAO Project (a collaboration of Amuse Creative Studio, AOI Pro., and Miliagons Studio), with planning and production by Amuse Creative Studio. Further details on the cast, studio, and release date will be announced at a later time.
