The military fantasy "Sensou Kyoushitsu" (The Bugle Call: Song of War) by author Mozuku Sora and illustrator Higoro Toumori, serialized in the magazine "Jump SQ." (Shueisha), is being adapted into a TV anime. The broadcast period is scheduled for 2027. This was announced by the production conglomerate CyberAgent along with the release of a teaser image and a teaser promotional video approximately four minutes long.
The animation is being produced at the new in-house studio CA Soa, led by anime producer Masakazu Ogawa, marking the studio's first work. The director is Shinya Watada, who previously helmed "Rock wa Lady no Tashinami deshite," among other projects. The series composition is handled by Michihiro Tsuchiya, with character design by Michinori Chiba. For the action-packed scenes, Hiroshi Arisawa has been brought on as action animator, the concept design is by Kanetake Ebikawa, and the prop design by Takayuki Yanase. The music is composed by Hitomi Koto, who previously worked on the series "Nijusseiki Denki Mokuroku – Eureka Evrika." The CG production is handled by the renowned studio Shirogumi.
"Sensou Kyoushitsu" is set in the Arboral Year 1294, a world shaped by nine ancient towers known as the Spires. The protagonist Luca is a young bugler in a mercenary troop who hates war and dreams of becoming a true Maestro. When he develops the supernatural ability to visually perceive sounds—the so-called "Branch-hexed" power—he is drawn into a major conflict. He meets other bearers of these powers, including the girl Zoe, and fights alongside the Pope against the Empire.
The teaser PV offers a first glimpse into the atmospheric world, accompanied by orchestral music and action-packed CG sequences. The original manga series began in September 2022 in "Jump SQ." and moved to the sister magazine "Jump SQ.RISE" with the summer 2026 issue. So far, 13 volumes have been released in Japan; the 14th volume is scheduled for July 3, 2026. The English version is licensed and distributed by Viz Media. Even before the official announcement, Makoto Yukimura, author of "Vinland Saga," recommended the series, contributing to the anticipation.
Further details about the cast and the exact broadcast date will be announced at a later time.
