The popular voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro will be heard in the one-hour spring special of the anime cult series 'Sazae-san'. As broadcaster Fuji TV announced, Sawashiro will take on the role of Minami, a former high school classmate of the protagonist Sazae. It is her first appearance in the long-running series.

The special episode titled 'Sazae-san: Spring Outing Special' will air on March 22 at 6:00 PM (JST). Sawashiro will be heard in the episode 'Sazae Goes to Meet Orcas!'. In this episode, the Isono family visits the Kamogawa SeaWorld marine amusement park in Chiba Prefecture. There, Minami now works as an animal keeper and has realized her dream of becoming an orca trainer.

Regarding her role, Sawashiro said: 'I was as excited as a child and thought: 'What? I get to do this?!' But when I calmed down again, my knees were shaking!'. She was particularly surprised to be allowed to address Sazae, such a well-known character, by her first name: 'I never thought the day would come when I would be in the same class as Sazae-san! And I never dreamed the day would come when I would address her by her first name!'.

The message that Minami conveys to little Wakame in the anime is especially close to Sawashiro's heart: 'The message that Minami conveyed to Wakame-chan has become a message I also want to pass on to the children who are watching.' Addressing the adult viewers, she added: 'I couldn't wish for anything better than if people felt like going to see a dolphin show with friends, family, or the children.'.

The 'Sazae-san: Spring Outing Special' comprises a total of four episodes. In addition to 'Sazae Goes to Meet Orcas!', 'The Isonos Clean Up!', 'What Will Happen to the Cherry Blossom Party?', and 'Tara-chan Sleeps in a Row' will be shown.
