Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash - Circe's Witch – Continuation with new preview film

The successful film series „Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash“ (original title: 機動戦士ガンダム 閃光のハサウェイ) continues with the next installment „Circe’s Witch“ (キルケーの魔女). A theatrical release in Japan is planned for winter 2025. Once again, Masuyuki Murakami is directing, while Hiroyuki Sawano, known for „Attack on Titan,“ is again composing the soundtrack.

The new film picks up the story directly after the first part from 2021, which particularly impressed with its visual brilliance and intense character study. The story continues to follow Hathaway Noa (voiced by Kensho Ono), who must navigate between political resistance and personal moral conflicts. The other main roles also remain consistently cast, with Reina Ueda as Gigi Andalucia, Junichi Suwabe as Kenneth Sleg, and Soma Saito as Lane Aim.

A first look at the production already reveals action-packed Mobile Suit battles over water surfaces, new mechanical designs like the RX-105 Xi Gundam, as well as elaborate animations of light reflections and fluid movements. The film series is based on the novels by Yoshiyuki Tomino and is firmly anchored in the „Gundam Universal Century“ canon. The first part not only achieved commercial success with over 2.23 billion yen at the box office but also set new standards for CGI in the anime industry. With „Circe’s Witch,“ the trilogy now continues—a series explicitly aimed at an adult audience, placing political and ethical dilemmas at the forefront.
