The second part of the anime film series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash" will be released digitally in Japan in August. As Bandai Namco Filmworks announced in early August, the film "Kidō Senshi Gandamu Senkō no Hasauei: Kiruke no Majo" – in German "Die Hexe von Kirke" – will be available for purchase and rental on Amazon Prime Video from August 17. On August 31, it will be added to the service's subscription offering; distribution in Japan will then be exclusive to Prime Video. The rental fee is uniformly 550 yen including tax for both HD and SD versions, with a viewing period of two days. For purchase, 2550 yen (HD) or 2050 yen (SD) are charged.

The production is the sequel to the 2021 opening film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash" and the second chapter of a three-part adaptation of the novel series of the same name by "Gundam" creator Yoshiyuki Tomino from 1989/1990. Shuko Murase directed again, the screenplay was written by Yasuyuki Muto, and the music was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano. Kensho Ono voices Hathaway Noa, Reina Ueda the enigmatic Gigi Andalusia, and Junichi Suwabe the Federation officer Kenneth Sleg. The opening song is "Snooze" by SZA, and the ending theme is "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses.

The story is set in U.C. 0105, twelve years after the events of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack". Hathaway Noa, son of Federation veteran Bright Noa, leads the resistance movement Mafty, which opposes the increasingly authoritarian Earth Federation. In the new film, the encounter with Gigi Andalusia reminds Hathaway of earlier traumas while he prepares the attack on the Adelaide conference. Meanwhile, Kenneth Sleg plans to crush Mafty and receives a secret offer from the ranks of the criminal police.

In Japanese cinemas, "The Witch of Kirke" has been showing since January 30, 2026, including in IMAX format, and clearly surpassed the success of the first part: According to official figures, the film has so far grossed more than 2.7 billion yen. Those who want to catch up on the backstory can find, alongside the first part, also "Char's Counterattack" on Prime Video in Japan, which shows the final confrontation between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable as well as the young Hathaway's encounter with Quess Paraya. Outside Japan, Netflix handles distribution; there too, the film starts on August 31.
