The upcoming film "Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM" is set to release in Japanese theaters on January 26, 2024, and takes place in the Cosmic Era (C.E.) 75. A second promotional video for the film has been released, following the first promotional video that was previously unveiled.

The cast includes both returning and new members, with some notable casting choices such as Sōichiro Hoshi as Kira Yamato, Rie Tanaka as Lacus Clyne, and Nanako Mori as Cagalli Yula Athha, replacing Naomi Shindoh. The film is directed by Mitsuo Fukuda of Bandai Namco Filmworks, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Chiaki Morosawa and Liu Goto. Hisashi Hirai is in charge of character design.

The team behind the film consists of various professionals handling mechanical design, animation direction, color key artistry, CG direction, cinematography, editing, sound direction, and music. This film is part of a larger initiative celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original Mobile Suit Gundam Seed anime, which includes additional projects such as a new game and a side-story manga.

The film has been confirmed as a sequel to the second Gundam Seed TV anime, "Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny." The first Mobile Suit Gundam Seed anime aired between 2002 and 2003, followed by "Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny" from 2004 to 2005, and a three-part project in 2006. The film project was initially announced back in 2006.
