Movie “Make a Girl”: release date and new details announced

The movie "Make a Girl" will hit Japanese theaters on January 31, 2025. Additionally, the second teaser visual, a new trailer, and further cast details have been revealed.

"Make a Girl" is the first feature film by animation artist Genzou Yasuda. The story is set in the near future and follows the brilliant young scientist Akira Mizutame. After hearing from a friend that "creating a girlfriend would change the world," he decides to create an artificial girlfriend named "No. 0." The trailer begins with scenes showing Akira's progress in creating No. 0 and their growing relationship. However, the mood soon shifts, with unsettling voices and cries like "Something’s wrong!" and "No, No. 0!" as well as No. 0’s poignant line: "It would have been enough just to stand beside you like a normal person..."

The second teaser visual depicts two figures reaching out to each other, separated by a glass pane.

The main cast includes Atsumi Tanezaki as No. 0 and Shun Horie as Akira. It was previously announced that Toshiki Masuda will play Akira’s classmate Kunihito Obayashi and Sora Amamiya will play Akane Yukimura. New additions to the cast include Youji Ueda as Akira’s stepfather Shouichi Takamine, Kana Hanazawa as Eri Kaichuu, a graduate student and Akira’s older sister, and Minami Hinata as the young Akira.
