Mr. Osomatsu" Anime Franchise Announces Second New Movie

The "Mr. Osomatsu" anime franchise has released a teaser trailer for its second new film for the "Sixth Anniversary" titled "Osomatsu-san: The Soul's Takoyaki Party and the Legendary Sleepover Party." The teaser, which was shown during an online screening of the first new film, "Mr. Osomatsu: The Hipipo Tribe and the Glistening Fruit," announces July 21 as the release date for the second film.



The teaser begins with the team's ambitions for prestigious awards like the Oscar, the Golden Globe, and the Golden Bear. Then, the story unfolds as the sextuplets prepare for a takoyaki cooking party at their house, which ends in chaos when Totoko suggests staying overnight.

The Mr. Osomatsu anime franchise announced in June 2021 that it would release two new anime films with limited theatrical runs in Japan in 2022 and 2023. The first film premiered in July 2022.

Mr. Osomatsu is based on Fujio Akatsuka's original manga Osomatsu-kun and the TV anime "high-voltage comedy," revolving around the mischievous Matsuno sextuplets who all fall in love with the same girl, Totoko. The original series followed the family when the sons were 10 years old, while Mr. Osomatsu revives the sextuplets as adults. The franchise also includes three anime seasons, an earlier anime, several anime short films, and a live-action film.
