Zanoba is introduced as a passionate figure builder. He persistently asks Rudeus to teach him the craft. However, Zanoba's superhuman strength makes delicate work a challenge for him. To solve this problem, Rudeus considers purchasing a skilled slave. Fitz suggests choosing a young child, as they can more easily be taught magic without incantations. Following this advice, Rudeus and Zanoba visit a slave market.

At the market, they encounter a young dwarf girl in a state of despair. Rudeus empathizes with her, recalling his own past struggles and feelings of hopelessness. After a heartfelt conversation, the girl reveals that she does not want to die. Rudeus decides to buy her, and they name her Juliette, or "Julie" for short.

Julie begins living with and serving Zanoba. Rudeus takes on the task of teaching her languages and magic without incantations. By the end of the episode, the plan to create a figure, involving Rudeus, Zanoba, and Julie, becomes more concrete.
