Episode 8 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation begins with Linia and Pursena, princesses of the Doldia tribe, playfully teasing each other while Rudeus studies, and their commotion annoys another student. This student is Cliff, whom Rudeus later meets again during a walk. Cliff confesses his feelings for Elinalise Dragonroad and asks Rudeus to introduce them. Rudeus, aware of Elinalise's promiscuous reputation (and thus fearing an unhappy ending), hesitates but eventually agrees after consulting with Sylphie (Fitz), who advises him to introduce the two.

Elinalise initially misunderstands Cliff's intentions, but Rudeus clarifies them, and she agrees to speak with Cliff privately. Despite Elinalise's curse, which prevents her from having a single partner, Cliff declares his intention to break the curse, and they decide to become a couple.

Meanwhile, Rudeus receives a letter from Linia and Pursena stating that they will not leave the girls' dormitory and that "the rest is up to him." Shortly after, a student challenges Rudeus to a duel over marriage rights, believing that defeating him will grant him the right to marry Linia and Pursena. Rudeus defeats the challenger, leading to a series of duels with other students.

Unexpectedly, the Demon King Badigadi appears and challenges Rudeus to a duel, effortlessly clearing away the other challengers. Badigadi reveals that he is engaged to Kishirika Kishirisu, the great ruler of the demon world, who spoke highly of Rudeus (Rudeus met her in the second part of the first season and received the Eye of Foresight from her). Remembering his near-death experience with the Dragon God Orsted, Rudeus requests that his life be spared even if he loses. Badigadi agrees and proposes a duel with only one strike allowed. Rudeus manages to wound Badigadi and win the duel. However, Badigadi, unharmed and in high spirits, declares Rudeus a hero and leaves the city.

Despite his victory, Rudeus is exhausted and surprised when Linia and Pursena express their gratitude and offer a reward. However, their moment is interrupted by the announcement of Badigadi's arrival, leaving them in disbelief.

The episode ends with a preview of the next episode titled "The White Mask."

The anime's plot diverges significantly from the manga in this episode, possibly due to the integration of multiple storylines into this single episode.
