For those unfamiliar with the series: "My Clueless First Friend" is based on the manga series by Taku Kawamura, which has been serialized in Square Enix's shonen manga magazine "Monthly Gangan Joker" since May 2018. Square Enix Manga & Books publishes the manga in English and describes the first volume as "Opposites attract when a cheerful airhead meets the wallflower of his new class in this heartwarming school comedy series!"

The story revolves around the friendship between a lonely, gloomy fifth-grade girl and a new transfer student who has the magical ability to draw her out of her shell. Together, they experience all the fun of a childhood summer, forming an unlikely bond. With the new trailer and cast announcements, fans now get a taste of what to expect when the anime premieres in April.
