Episode 3 of "My Happy Marriage" titled "Our First Date" begins with Kiyotaka inviting Miyo to accompany him on a weekend outing through the city. After initial hesitation, she agrees once he reassures her.

On the expected day, Yurie helps Miyo prepare for her first date with Kiyotaka. Their first stop is Kiyotaka's workplace, where he parks his car, and we learn that a colleague from a previous episode is named Godo. After dismissing Godo due to his annoying behavior, Kiyotaka and Miyo head into the city to go shopping. He encourages Miyo to act naturally and not see herself as a burden.

The scene shifts to Mr. Tatsuishi and Shinji discussing Shinji's decision to marry Miyo off to the Kudo family. Tatsuishi criticizes the decision, mentioning that Miyo's children might inherit supernatural abilities, which could strengthen the Kudo family and endanger their own position. Nevertheless, Shinji is convinced that Kiyotaka will discard Miyo once he realizes she has no powers and suggests that Tatsuishi can take her in if that happens.

Shinji admits that the Saimori family, Miyo's original family, has washed their hands of her. He expresses indifference toward her fate, prompting Tatsuishi to vow to protect her. Meanwhile, an employee of the Saimori family informs Kaya of this conversation. Kaya is upset but agrees to go shopping with Koji, a man who still has feelings for Miyo.



The scene returns to Kiyotaka and Miyo visiting the kimono shop Suzushimaya, a store with long-standing loyalty to Kiyotaka's family. An employee pulls Kiyotaka aside to hand him some ordered fabrics and teases him for bringing a lady along. While occupied, he recalls a conversation about Miyo mending her own clothes, which leads him to order a kimono for her.

After the kimono shop, they visit a sweets store, where Kiyotaka asks Miyo to smile more and reminds her that they may soon be married, so she should feel free to be herself. Upon returning home, Kiyotaka leaves a gift for Miyo—a comb, triggering a flashback to Yurie mentioning that presenting a comb is a marriage proposal. Kiyotaka, however, dismisses the symbolism, saying he simply wanted to give her something. Miyo, in turn, promises to cherish it.

The episode nears its end as an investigator presents Kiyotaka with information about the Saimori family, revealing that Shinichi's family had arranged his marriage to Miyo's mother, Sumi Saimori, and the mysterious origins of Sumi from the Usuba family, known for their rare ability to interact with people. The episode concludes with Kiyotaka fending off an attack by a group of Shiki-gami and wondering who sent them.
