"My Happy Marriage" Episode 4, titled "The Gift," begins with Miyo waking from a dream in which she pleads with Sumi Shinichi not to abandon her. Motivated by this dream, Miyo decides to enlist the help of her friend Yurie to procure a gift for her future husband, Kiyotaka.

Yurie advises Miyo to choose a gift that Kiyotaka can use daily, so she settles on a braided cord. While out purchasing materials, Miyo and Yurie encounter Kaya and Koji. Kaya, mistaking Miyo’s simple kimono as a sign of neglect, criticizes her, triggering feelings of self-loathing in Miyo. However, Yurie defends Miyo by revealing her impending status as Kiyotaka’s wife.

At the same time, Kiyotaka visits Shinichi and expresses his desire to formalize his engagement to Miyo. He also confronts Shinichi about his mistreatment of Miyo and demands an apology in person.

Later, Kiyotaka senses Miyo’s emotional turmoil upon his return and discusses it with Yurie. They agree that Kiyotaka must offer Miyo love and reassurance. Meanwhile, Miyo finishes the braided cord but struggles with how to present it to Kiyotaka.

Unexpectedly, Miyo is visited by Hana, who reveals that she has married and become a mother. They talk about happiness, with Miyo admitting she feels unworthy of being Kiyotaka’s wife. Hana shows Miyo a letter from Kiyotaka, prompting Miyo to confess her past and lack of spiritual sight to him.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Miyo presents the handmade braided cord to Kiyotaka, who is deeply moved by the gesture. He reassures her of his intention to officially announce their engagement and expresses his wish for her to stay with him forever. The two share a tender moment as Kiyotaka asks Miyo to help him put on the cord.
