The film stands out for featuring an original story penned by Satoru Yamaguchi, the author of the Light Novels. Additionally, several staff members are returning, including Keisuke Inoue, who will direct the film. Screenwriters Megumi Shimizu and Megumu Sasano, as well as character designer Miwa Oshima, are also back on board, and the project is being animated by Studio SILVER LINK.

Another noteworthy aspect is the film's casting. Despite a change in the voice actor for the character Alan Stuart in the game's bonus CDs, Tatsuhisa Suzuki will reprise his role as Alan in the film—a decision that might affect the viewing experience for some fans familiar with the different interpretations of the character.

The Light Novel series has already been adapted into an anime, with its first season airing in April 2020. A second season, "My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X," followed in July 2021.

The plot of "My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!" follows the life of Duke Claes' daughter, Katarina. After a severe blow to the head, Katarina regains memories of her past life as a Japanese teenager who played an otome game strikingly similar to her current world. As the game's villainess, Katarina must now navigate a series of events that could lead to her downfall or exile.

The original novel series was published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō!'s website in July 2014. In August 2015, Ichijinsha began releasing the novels with illustrations by Nami Hidaka. Hidaka also contributes the artwork for the ongoing manga, which was first serialized in Ichijinsha's Comic Zero Sum magazine in August 2017.
