On the official website of the Naruto anime franchise, it was announced that the premiere of four new episodes, originally scheduled to air on September 3, has been postponed by four consecutive weeks. This decision was made to improve the quality of the episodes. The new premiere date will be announced soon by the anime's staff. In the meantime, selected episodes of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will be aired.

The new episodes were planned as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Naruto TV anime, which first aired in October 2002. The band FLOW was set to perform a 20th-anniversary version of their song "GO!!!" as the opening theme and a cover of "Viva Rock" by Orange Range as the ending theme.

The Naruto franchise includes several TV anime series, anime films, and original video anime. The original Naruto TV anime aired from 2002 to 2007, followed by the sequel series Naruto Shippūden, which ran from 2007 to 2017.
