The anime series based on the original story by Mokumoku Ren, "Natsu, Hikari ga Shinda", has set its broadcast start for July 5th. Alongside a weekly airing in Japan, the production will simultaneously be available internationally via Netflix.

Parallel to these announcements, new insights were released in the form of a second main preview video. This shows excerpts from the completed anime series and blends the atmosphere of youthful carefreeness with underlying rising unease. The song "Saikai" by Vaundy was selected as the theme song for the opening sequence. A portion of the song can be heard in the new preview video. The artist stated that he musically captured the uncertainty and tension he felt when reading the source material.

Additionally, two more voice roles were announced:

- Nakajima Yoshiki voices the role of Maki Yūta, a lively classmate with short hair.
- Wakayama Shion takes on the role of the classmate Tomodoro Yuki, a long-time friend of another character.

The plot of "Natsu, Hikari ga Shinda" follows Yoshiaki, who lives in a rural community. His daily life with a being that bears the appearance of his childhood friend Hikaru becomes increasingly overshadowed by inexplicable and threatening occurrences. The series combines elements of the youth genre with supernatural horror.
