Netflix confirms cast and release date for live-action series One Piece

In a recent update from Netflix at the Anime Expo, it was revealed that the original Japanese voice actors for the characters Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji from the popular "One Piece" TV anime will return for the Japanese dub of the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's "One Piece" manga. This news includes the fact that live-action actor Inaki Godoy will meet Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actress of his character Luffy.



In addition to their live-action roles, Inaki Godoy and Taz Skylar will also lend their voices to the Spanish dub of the characters Luffy and Sanji, respectively.

Netflix is expected to release the series on August 31. Oda, the original creator, is closely involved in the project as an executive producer. He has already expressed his intention to ensure the highest quality of the series, stating that it will only be released once he is completely satisfied with the final product. He also emphasized that all parties involved in the project are working together. The series is expected to consist of eight episodes, a change from the originally reported ten episodes.

The cast for the live-action adaptation is a diverse mix of talents, including Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, and many others.

The live-action series is being produced exclusively for Netflix and is the result of a partnership between Tomorrow Studios and ITV Studios, with Marty Adelstein directing. Matt Owens is responsible for writing the series, while Steven Maeda and Becky Clements serve as executive producers.
