The production team of the anime »Tongari Boushi no Atelier« – internationally known as »Witch Hat Atelier« – has announced two additional voices for the adaptation of the award-winning manga series. Starting with the tenth episode, which will air on June 8, 2026, on Japanese television, Ryusei Nakao will take on the role of the mysterious Sasaran. This magician, belonging to the group of the "Brimmed Caps," initially appears as a bodiless entity and will take on a central antagonist role as the story progresses. One week later, on June 15, Hiyori Ishibashi will make his debut as Yuini, an apprentice from another workshop who, together with Agott and Riche, faces the second trial.

Nakao, known as the voice of Freezer from »Dragon Ball« and Mayuri Kurotsuchi from »Bleach«, expressed his delight at the casting: "I really like the world of ›Witch Hat Atelier‹, so I was looking forward to the role. I also really like the enigmatic Sasaran. I'm curious to see how the story develops." Ishibashi, who among other roles voiced Umi from »Children of the Sea«, added: "The more I read the source material, the deeper I was drawn into the world. Being able to work on this globally beloved work makes me very proud. Although I joined the recording studio later, the energy of everyone involved – especially Rena Motomura as Coco – inspired me greatly. I played Yuini with full commitment. His hidden kind sides are real!"

The series has been airing since April 6, 2026, every Monday at 11:00 PM (JST) on TOKYO MX and other channels. Internationally, the anime is streamed by Crunchyroll (outside Asia) and Netflix (in selected Asian regions). The animation is handled by studio BUG FILMS, with direction by Ayumu Watanabe (»Summer Time Rendering«). The series concept is by Hiroshi Seko (»Jujutsu Kaisen«), and the music is composed by Yuka Kitamura (»Elden Ring«).

The underlying manga series by Kamome Shirahama has been published since 2016 in the magazine »Monthly Morning Two« (Kodansha) and has achieved a worldwide circulation of over 7.5 million copies. It has been awarded, among others, the Eisner Award for Best Asian Publication and the Harvey Award for Best Manga. A spin-off titled »Tongari Boshi no Kitchen« by Hiromi Sato complements the universe.

Alongside the cast reveal, the official YouTube channel released a short preview of the tenth episode titled »Silver Promise«. It shows first scenes with the new characters. The plot of the anime adaptation follows young Coco, who, after a fateful accident involving forbidden magic, becomes an apprentice to the magician Qifrey and gradually discovers the secrets of the magical world.
