New fantasy anime “Wistaria of Wand and Sword” announced with cast!

The fantasy manga "Wistaria of Wand and Sword" by Fujino Ōmori, with illustrations by Seiji Aoi—known for "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?"—is being adapted into an anime series. The announcement was made with the reveal of the main cast, a promotional video, and key visuals, marking the start of its broadcast in July.

"Wistaria of Wand and Sword" is set in a fantasy kingdom and is serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. The story centers on Will Selfort, an aspiring wizard with a critical flaw for any magician: he cannot use magic. Despite being scorned by his classmates and teachers, Will is determined to wield a sword and fight in a world where magic reigns supreme. The final volume of the manga, Volume 9, was released on February 8.

In the anime, Kōhei Amasaki voices Will Selfort, who, despite his inability to use magic, possesses unparalleled strength and swordsmanship. Akiya Sekine plays Elfaria Alviss Selfort, Will's childhood friend and a brilliant magician who was known in her youth as one of the "Supreme Five Rods."

The anime is a collaboration between Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures, featuring renowned talents such as Tatsuya Yoshihara (action director of Chainsaw Man) as director and series composer, Sayaka Ono (character designer for Cross Ange) as character designer and chief animation director, and Yūki Hayashi (composer for Haikyuu!! and My Hero Academia) as music composer.

A teaser video has been released, showcasing the journey of Will and Elfaria, with a slogan hinting at a boy's quest to fulfill a promise. The trailer features action scenes and the voices of Amasaki and Sekine, promising an engaging story about overcoming adversity.
