The award-winning manga series Tenmaku no Jādoūgaru (eng. The Harem of the Jade Circle) by artist duo Tomato Soup is receiving a TV anime adaptation by Studio Science SARU (Devilman Crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!). A first teaser as well as an exclusive anniversary illustration have been released.

The story takes place in the 13th century under the rule of the Mongol Empire and follows former slave Shitara, who encounters the enigmatic Sixth Consort Doregene in the imperial harem. Together, they use their intellectual sharpness to challenge the fragile power structure of the court. The manga, which topped the 2023 "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" ranking list, combines historical accuracy with psychological tension.

The teaser presents key scenes from the source material, accompanied by music influenced by Central Asia. This is complemented by a retro-cartoon-style illustration by the authors, showing Shitara and Doregene in front of traditional yurts.

The series will air as part of TV Asahi's programming, with exact broadcast times or casting details still pending. Currently, the manga is being published on the Souffle platform; the fifth compiled volume will follow on April 16. Further updates on the production are expected in the coming months.
