The children's book series "Kyōfu Collector" is being adapted into a television anime series. The broadcast is scheduled for autumn 2026.

The story is based on a book series by Midori Satō and Norio Tsuruta. It is about the boy Sen'no Fushigi, who together with his talking dog Jimi "collects" modern legends and horror stories. His counterpart is the girl Himitsu, who can manifest these legends. The series describes the chase between the two and shows how Fushigi, with the help of friends, masters various dangerous situations. The original book series currently comprises 26 volumes and has also been adapted into a manga.

The anime production is being overseen by Jun Sakata as the lead producer. The two original authors commented on the announcement in separate statements. Midori Satō expressed her joy about the adaptation and emphasized that the series is suitable for both young and adult viewers. Norio Tsurata described the project as a long-held wish to establish a "good figure" in the genre of Japanese horror (J-Horror) and to bring this together with the anime format.

A first key visual for the series has been released. Further details regarding the cast and production are to be announced at a later date.
