New anime adaptation of Baki-Dou showcases epic battles and theme songs

A new, extensive trailer for the upcoming anime series Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai (Japanese: Baki-Dou) has been released. The series, based on the manga by Keisuke Itagaki, will premiere worldwide on Netflix on February 26, 2026.

The story picks up after the legendary battle between Baki Hanma and his father Yujiro. A secret experiment leads to the revival of the historical sword master Miyamoto Musashi, voiced by Naoya Uchida. His return poses an unprecedented challenge for the fighters of the underground arena.

The trailer shows confrontations between Musashi and familiar characters like Doppo Orochi, Gouki Shibukawa, and Retsu Kaiou. An encounter between Musashi and Yujiro Hanma, who is considered the strongest creature on Earth, is also hinted at. The plot describes an epic, cross-temporal battle to determine the strongest in history.

The series is directed by Toshiki Hirano, while Tatsuhiko Urahata is responsible for the series composition. The animation is once again handled by TMS Entertainment.

The musical accompaniment features two new songs: The opening theme "Furuboko" is contributed by the rock band WANIMA, while the ending theme "Mountain Top" comes from singer Novel Core. Both artists shared personal statements about the series.

WANIMA stated they have followed the series since their youth and wrote the song from the perspective that life itself is a battle.

Novel Core described the honor of being able to contribute to the ending and explained that the title "Mountain Top" reflects the loneliness and costs that come with great strength.

The series consists of 13 episodes, which will be fully available at launch. In addition to the original Japanese audio, an English dubbed version will also be offered.
