At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026, Netflix unveiled the first teaser trailer for the new anime series "THE ONE PIECE." The adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's manga is being retold from the "East Blue" saga and produced by WIT Studio. The teaser shows young Monkey D. Luffy, inspired by Gold Roger, setting sail to find the legendary treasure One Piece. Also featured are the first Straw Hat Pirates: Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji. At the end of the trailer, Luffy shouts "Gomu Gomu no Pistol" and defeats the "Lord of the Coast."

It has already been confirmed that Mayumi Tanaka will once again voice Luffy. The voice actress, who has portrayed the character since 1999, expressed her excitement in a statement: "I am very happy to be able to participate in the new series as Luffy. I was a bit nervous about starting something new at my age, but I had a lot of fun recording the voice lines. I hope many people will watch the series." Director Masashi Koizuka, known for "Attack on Titan," added: "The voice actors delivered excellent, passionate performances. The animation team gives 120 percent every day to live up to that. We want to animate the story of One Piece with all our might and give viewers the opportunity to experience the series anew from the beginning."

The first season of "THE ONE PIECE" consists of seven episodes with a total runtime of about 300 minutes and adapts the first 50 chapters of the manga – from Luffy's departure to his encounter with Sanji at the floating restaurant Baratie. The series will be available worldwide on Netflix starting February 2027. The crew includes series composer Taku Kishimoto, character designers Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda, as well as artists for backgrounds and creatures. The production operates independently of the TV series by Toei Animation, which has been running for over 25 years.

The teaser trailer is already available on Netflix's official YouTube channel.
