New anime continuation of "The Prince of Tennis" announced for 2026

For the anime series "The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Final Member Selection Match" (Japanese original title: Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama U-17 WORLD CUP Kesshō Member Ketteisen), a release timeframe has been announced. The continuation is scheduled to be released in autumn 2026.

The new series is the direct continuation of the story from 2024, which depicted the U-17 World Cup semifinal between Japan and Germany. The upcoming episodes will now focus on the preparation for the final. The central focus is not the actual final match itself, but the internal selection process within the Japanese team. The players must compete against each other in an intense competition to secure one of the coveted spots in the starting lineup for the final match against the Spanish team.

On the occasion of the announcement, first official key visuals have been released. A central image shows the two popular characters Ryoma Echizen and Syusuke Fuji, who will face each other in the aforementioned selection match. The visual is accompanied by the phrase "Let us advance time." Furthermore, a first teaser trailer has been published, which also contains scenes from an earlier encounter between the two rivals.

The anime series is based on the manga by Takeshi Konomi. The first anime adaptation started already in 2001. The continuation "The Prince of Tennis II", which elevates the story to a global level, was implemented starting in 2012.
