Cast members from previous adaptations will return, including Haruka Tomatsu as Kyoko Hori, Kouki Uchiyama as Izumi Miyamura, Seiichirō Yamashita as Toru Ishikawa, Yurie Kozakai as Yuki Yoshikawa, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kakeru Sengoku, M.A.O as Remi Ayasaki, and others. Director Masashi Ishihama will helm the project, while CloverWorks handles the animation production.

The manga "Horimiya" revolves around the unexpected commonalities between the seemingly frivolous Hori-san and the seemingly gloomy Miyamura-kun. A TV anime adaptation of the manga premiered in Japan in February 2021.
