The popular manga series "Snowball Earth" (Japanese title: Sunōbōru Āsu) by Yuhiro Tsujitsugu is being adapted into an anime television series. The broadcast is scheduled for April 2026. For the announcement, first visual insights and the main voice cast were presented.

As a preview of the series, an official teaser visual and a first teaser trailer were released. The motif shows the protagonist Tetsuo Yabusame in a frosty landscape, with the massive robot Yukio behind him. The accompanying slogan reads: "A boy with zero friends saves the Earth?!".

The trailer offers the first moving scenes from the production. It shows how Tetsuo awakens after a long cryosleep and finds a completely iced-over, changed Earth. In addition to action-packed battles against giant monsters, the new companions Ao Nogi and Hagane Takimura are also seen.

The main roles are being taken on by an experienced voice cast:

- Takuto Yoshinaga voices Tetsuo Yabusame, the reclusive but capable pilot.
- Daisuke Hirakawa lends his voice to Yukio, Tetsuo's robotic companion.
- Ami Koshimizu voices Ao Nogi, a curious monster tamer.
- Konomi Tamura takes on the role of the technically gifted Hagane Takimura.

Behind the series is a team of renowned professionals. The direction is led by Munehisa Sakai, while Shigeru Murakoshi is responsible for the series composition. The character design is by Toshiya Kōno.

"Snowball Earth" is based on a manga that has been running since 2021, of which over 700,000 copies have already been sold. The story is a science fiction adventure that combines action with monster and robot elements.

It revolves around the lonely pilot Tetsuo and his robot friend Yukio. Together they fought against alien monsters in space to save the Earth. Years later, Tetsuo returns from cryosleep and finds his home planet as a completely frozen ice desert – a "snowball Earth". In this hostile world, he must face new dangers and simultaneously solve the mystery of this apocalyptic change.
