New canvas adventures for the traveling witch Elaina

A new anime film for the franchise Majo no Tabitabi (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) has been officially announced. The production of a theatrical film was announced as part of the GA FES 2026 event.

The news was shared on January 4, 2026, during a stage event at GA FES 2026. To celebrate the announcement, a first teaser was released, for which voice actress Kaede Hondo recorded new dialogue for her role as the protagonist Elaina. Additionally, the original illustrator Azure presented a newly drawn graphic of the witch Elaina.

Jougi Shiraishi, the author of the underlying light novel series, expressed his joy at finally being able to announce the long-planned film project. In a comment, he mentioned that he had often been asked about a continuation of the anime adaptation and showed his excitement that there will now be a film. Azure, responsible for the character design, also commented on the announcement, speaking of being deeply moved to now be able to follow Elaina's journey on the big screen.

Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina (jap. Majo no Tabitabi) follows the young, talented witch Elaina, who embarks on a journey through various countries and encounters diverse people and destinies. The plot is based on the light novel series written by Jougi Shiraishi and illustrated by Azure, which has been published by SB Creative since April 2016. The first anime adaptation was a twelve-episode television series that started in October 2020.
