The producers of the anime television series 'Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen' (Recommendation from Mr. Iwamoto) have revealed additional voice actors and the musical contributions for the series. The adaptation of the manga of the same name by Hiroshi Shiibashi ('Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan') will premiere on July 4, 2026, on Tokyo MX and Sun TV.

The story is set in 1910s Japan. The student Kodō Iwamoto attends the military-run Seihō Middle School, which collects and researches paranormal phenomena. Under military orders, Iwamoto travels across the country to find individuals with extraordinary abilities and issue them a recommendation to enter the school. Along the way, he encounters numerous secrets and destinies.

It was previously announced that Taito Ban voices the lead role of Kodō Iwamoto, Yūki Sakakihara plays the lively underclassman Kai Haramachi, and Kent Itō portrays the reserved Sōichirō Amaha. Now, two more characters have been cast: Gen Satō lends his voice to the second-year student Riu Sazamegawa, who always carries an umbrella and is surrounded by a persistent rain cloud. Shinnosuke Tokudome takes on the role of the calm and relaxed first-year student Mizuka Awatama, who has a passion for traditional Japanese dolls.

Both voice actors expressed their excitement. Satō stated that he worked with a new approach to bring out Riu's loyal and committed side. Tokudome expressed happiness at being able to portray Mizuka's gentle and quirky nature. The series promises a blend of beauty, mystery, and charm.

The musical accompaniment has also been finalized: The opening theme 'BUDDING' is performed by the dance and vocal group THE JET BOY BANGERZ, which emerged from the EXILE Tribe ecosystem. The ending theme is handled by the group WOLF HOWL HARMONY with the song 'Koko ni Iru'. Both bands expressed in statements that they are honored to be part of the atmospheric world of 'Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen'.

Studio Deen is involved in the production under the direction of Toshifumi Kawase. The series composition is by Keiichirō Ōchi, character design by Atsuko Nakajima, and music composed by Yoshiaki Dewa and Tōru Ishitsuka. The anime is expected to start in summer 2026 and promises a romantic-fantastical narrative full of supernatural encounters.
