New content for upcoming Space Battleship Yamato chapter presented

For the fifth chapter of the remake project "Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199," a new key visual and a trailer have been released. The chapter titled "Hakunetsu no Ginga Taisen" (English "The Incandescent Galactic War") has scheduled its theatrical premiere in Japan for February 20, 2026.

The released key visual is an original work by character designer Nobuteru Yuki, who was also responsible for previous works in the remake series. The new trailer provides insights into the plot and shows a large-scale galactic confrontation.

In addition to the trailer, another collectible for theatergoers is being offered. As with previous chapters in the series, there is a special admission ticket postcard that includes a bonus poster.

"Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199" is a large-scale sequel to the previous "Yamato 2205" films. The overall project with the Japanese title "Yamato yo Towa ni: REBEL 3199" is being realized as a series of seven theatrical films, each containing multiple episodes. The upcoming fifth chapter comprises episodes 15 through 18 of the overall series.

The project represents a modern reinterpretation of the anime classic "Space Battleship Yamato" and thematically also connects to the film "Yamato yo Towa ni" (English "Be Forever Yamato") from 1980.

The direction is led by Naomichi Yamato, supported by Harutoshi Fukui as chief director and screenwriter. The established voice actor ensemble continues, including Daisuke Ono as Susumu Kodai and Houko Kuwashima as Yuki Mori. A special creative addition to the team is the renowned sculptor and special effects artist Takayuki Takeya.

The first fourteen episodes of the series (corresponding to the first four theatrical chapters) are available internationally under the title "Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199" on Crunchyroll. For the newly announced content starting from chapter five, an international release date is not yet confirmed at this time.

The release of the fifth chapter marks another step in this ambitious seven-part theatrical project, which continues the legendary space saga for a new audience.
