The new anime adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori's legendary manga "Cyborg 009" is titled "Cyborg 009 Nemesis" and will premiere on July 19, 2026 at 0:00 (JST) on numerous Japanese streaming platforms. All three episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long, will be released simultaneously.

The story pits the well-known nine cyborgs of the 00 numbers against a new, nine-member cyborg group called Nemesis. Nemesis is led by Graviton (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura), who is convinced that the original team around Joe Shimamura (009) cannot permanently secure world peace. This ideological divide erupts in a fierce 9-on-9 battle that puts the heroes' limits to a severe test.

The recently released key visual shows both groups in a dynamic composition: on one side, Joe Shimamura and his comrades, on the other, Graviton and his Nemesis warriors. The image raises high expectations for the clash of two generations of cyborgs.

The production is handled by Studio Arect under the direction of Hideki Anbo ("Yakitori"). The screenplay is by Atsuhiro Tomioka ("Fūto Tantei") and Charatex, with character design by sanorin. The music is contributed by the opening song "Tagatameni," a new recording of the legendary original by rock singer Kyoko. The accompanying single will be released on the same day as the anime episodes and includes the original version by Nari Ken as a special track.

The cast is top-notch: Yuki Kaji voices Joe Shimamura (009), Mamoru Miyano voices Jet Link (002), Ayane Sakura voices Depth (N008), and many other well-known voices. A total of 20 voice actors have been confirmed for the series.

July 19 is a special date for fans: On July 19, 1964, Ishinomori's original manga started in "Weekly Shonen King" – a start that was celebrated in 2024 with the 60th anniversary. Now, in its 62nd year, the series enters a new era.

"Cyborg 009 Nemesis" will be available on the following services: ABEMA Premium, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, Anime Hōdai, Prime Video, DMM TV, FOD, Hulu, Bandai Channel, J:COM STREAM, TELASA, milplus, and Furatto Dōga.
