The award-winning director Shōji Kawamori, known for the "Macross" and "Aquarion" series, presents with "Meikyu no Shiori" his first original feature-length film work. The plot follows the shy high school student Shiori Maezawa, who after a smartphone accident is trapped in a mysterious parallel world.

While the real Shiori is trapped inside her smartphone, in the real world her double SHIORI is up to no good. This second SHIORI teams up with the young entrepreneur Suguru Kagami to launch a massive social media campaign.

The latest revelations concern the cast: With Shō Hayami, Maaya Sakamoto and Tomokazu Sugita, three experienced Japanese voice actors join the project.

- Shō Hayami plays Keizō Maezawa, Shiori's father, who has a distant relationship with his daughter.
- Maaya Sakamoto lends her voice to Yoriko Maezawa, the mother, who mediates between her husband and her daughter.
- Tomokazu Sugita plays Tosaka, the homeroom teacher of Shiori who appears disinterested at first glance, but is in reality passionate.

They join the already announced cast: SUZUKA from the group Atarashii Gakko! plays the dual role of both the shy Shiori and her extroverted alter ego SHIORI. Taizō Harada voices the rabbit stamp Komori, whom Shiori meets in the smartphone world.

A comprehensive preview trailer and a new key visual provide insight into this fantastic world. The published visual shows the main characters against the background of a shattered smartphone display.

The band Atarashii Gakko! contributes with "Sailor, Sail On" the title song. The song was composed and written by yonkey, who also contributes the rest of the film music. The group describes the song as a new sonic challenge that fits perfectly with the themes of the film.

"Meikyu no Shiori" is scheduled to start in Japanese cinemas on January 1, 2026, thus heralding the film year with a highly anticipated anime.
