The anime Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku (Japanese title: 地獄楽) continues its story with a new episode that serves as the beginning of its second narrative phase. The plot continues to follow the group around the death-sentenced ninja Gabimaru, who is searching for an elixir of immortality on a mysterious island in order to obtain his pardon.

The episode shows a direct confrontation between Gabimaru and other prisoners stranded on the island, including the brothers Aza Chōbei and Toma. At the same time, the overarching conflict between the human intruders and the supernatural rulers of the island, the so-called Tensen, intensifies further. These beings protect the island's secrets and pose an immense challenge for Gabimaru and his allies. The plot highlights various character groups and their respective struggles on the dangerous island.

The series is based on the completed manga by Yūji Kaku, which was published between 2018 and 2021. The first anime season adapted the story arcs "Island" and "Lord Tensen". The now-begun second season is expected to adapt the subsequent manga events, including the "Hōrai" arc.

The story combines action with philosophical undertones. A central concept is "Tao", a power system based on opposites that requires the characters to accept both their strengths and their weaknesses. The development of the characters, especially that of Gabimaru and the swordswoman Sagiri, is often in focus.
