The fourth episode of the new TV anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell is titled Robot Rondo and promises a dark twist: Incidents keep occurring where seemingly harmless prototype models of robots suddenly attack humans. The story picks up directly after the events of the third episode. Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team from the special unit Section 9 secure several specimens of the same robot type and discover a disturbing commonality. To uncover the cause of the attacks, investigators Batou and Togusa head to the robot manufacturer, Hanka Precision Instruments.

Alongside the release of the plot summary and first scene images, the so-called Episode Visual for Episode 4 has also been unveiled—an alternative poster that captures the conceptual theme of the episode. This artwork was created by Takahito Matsuno (maxilla), a well-known art director and graphic designer.

Robot Rondo will air on July 28, 2026, at 11:00 PM on Japanese television via the Kantele/Fuji TV channel in the newly created timeslot Ka Anibar!!. Immediately following, from 11:30 PM, the episode will be available exclusively on Prime Video as a stream with a flat-rate subscription. One day later, on July 29, it will be released on other streaming platforms.

The series is based on the manga of the same name by Shirow Masamune from 1989 and tells the story of a highly specialized cyborg police unit operating in a cyberpunk setting of the 21st century. Direction is by Moko-chan, with the script written by Tow Ubukata. Animation production is handled by Science SARU, with music composed by Taisei Iwasaki. The main cast includes Maaya Sakamoto as Motoko Kusanagi, Koichi Yamadera as Aramaki, Hiroki Yasumoto as Batou, and Yuichi Nakamura as Togusa.
