New evolutionary horror action manga “Dear Anemone” launched

On February 19, 2024, a new series titled "Dear Anemone" by Rin Matsui appeared in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. This new manga takes readers to the Galapagos Islands, often referred to as a paradise of biodiversity, but with a twist that introduces horror and action elements derived from the concept of biological evolution.

The story is set against the backdrop of a mysterious explosion ten years ago that spread an unknown toxic substance across the islands, rendering them inaccessible to humans. After the concentration of the poison dropped to a level deemed safe, the Japanese government dispatched a special investigation team to determine the cause of the explosion. However, none of the team members returned. Subsequently, a second team, which includes the protagonist Hachiue Gaku, ventures to the islands and encounters creatures that have undergone unique evolutionary changes.
