The production of the announced original anime "Inherit the Winds" (original title: Kaze o Tsugu Mono) has announced new members for its voice actor ensemble. Kōki Uchiyama and Yūichi Nakamura have been confirmed as the voices for two central figures.

Uchiyama will lend his voice to the role of Hijikata Toshizō, while Nakamura will portray Kondō Isami. They join a previously announced main cast that includes Daisuke Sakuma, Yuki Kaji, and Aoi Yūki.

"Inherit the Winds" is a historical animation series set in 19th century Kyoto during the Bakumatsu era. The story follows a soldier who has lost his memory, is saved by Okita Sōji, and begins a new life under the name Tachikawa Jinsuke with the Mibu soldiers.

The project is an original production by Aniplex, animated by Live2D Creative Studio and Drive. It is directed by Tomohiro Kawamura, the screenplay is by Yutaka Narii, and the music was composed by Shigeru Kishida. The character designs were created by Fumi Ebina. The series is loosely based on plays by the group Caramel Box, from whose ranks author Yutaka Narii also comes.

The plot takes up the story of the Shinsengumi, a famous samurai unit from the late Edo period. Author Yutaka Narii is an experienced playwright who has previously dealt with this historical subject multiple times in his theatrical work.

In addition to the television series, the release of a four-part manga adaptation is planned for the year 2026. It will be drawn by Matsuri Muramatsu and will appear on an official social media account of the publisher Kodansha.

New information about the series is to be presented as part of a stage event at the AnimeJapan 2026 trade fair. The annual trade fair for animation content held in Tokyo is an important platform for industry announcements. The presentation planned for "Inherit the Winds" with some voice actors is scheduled for March 28, 2026.
