The second season of the anime series Vigilante – My Hero Academia: ILLEGALS, a spin-off of the main work My Hero Academia, will feature a flashback to the school days of the popular character Shota Aizawa. New releases offer a first look at this narrative and the associated voice actors.
A newly released key visual focuses entirely on the character's youth. It shows Shota Aizawa together with his classmates during their time at U.A. High School. This flashback, referred to in the anime as the "Aizawa School Days" arc, sheds light on the early years of the future pro hero Eraserhead and his companions.
The original voice actors from the main series have been secured to voice the young versions of established characters. Junichi Suwabe once again voices Shota Aizawa. He is joined by Hiroyuki Yoshino as Hizashi Yamada (Present Mic), Kenshō Ono as Oboro Shirakumo (Loud Cloud), and Akeno Watanabe as Nemuri Kayama (Midnight).
Additionally, a new character is introduced: His Purple Highness, also known as Highness Purple. This role is taken on by voice actor Rikiya Koyama.
The plot of Vigilante – My Hero Academia: ILLEGALS takes place chronologically before the events of the main manga by Kōhei Horikoshi. It focuses not on the official hero operations, but on the story of Koichi Haimawari, a young man who did not make it into the official hero program but still wants to do good with his limited ability.
The anime adaptation is directed by Kenichi Suzuki at Studio BONES FILM. The screenplay is by Yōsuke Kuroda, who is also responsible for the series of the main work.
