A new, approximately six-minute introductory video for the upcoming anime sequel film "Entotsu-chō no Poupelle ~Yakusoku no Tokeidai~" (The Promised Clock Tower) has been released. The film itself is set to open in Japanese theaters on March 27.

The released clip summarizes the plot of the first film and then introduces the new story. This revolves around the protagonist Lubicchi, who, after the disappearance of his friend Poupelle, arrives in a strange world where the hand of a clock tower has stopped at 11:59. In this world, ruled by a thousand-year-old fortress, Lubicchi receives a task from a queen named Nezumi to repair a clock. The plot deals with the conflict between those who want to protect the clock tower and those who wish to repair it.

Before the film opens in Japan, it will have its world premiere in February as part of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in the Generation Kplus section.

In the dubbed version, Yuzuna Nagase takes on the role of Lubicchi, replacing Mana Ashida from the first film. Masataka Kubota once again voices the character Poupelle. New additions to the cast include MEGUMI as Poupelle's new companion Mofu, Fūka Koshiba as the plant transformed into a human named Nagi, and Mitsuo Yoshihara as the clockmaker Gus. Anna Tsuchiya provides the voice for the aforementioned Queen Nezumi.

The film project is once again produced by Studio 4°C. Yūsuke Hirota directs, while the original author Akihiro Nishino supervises the production and also writes the screenplay. The story is based on Nishino's 2019 picture book "Tick-Tock ~Yakusoku no Tokeidai~." Nishino described the central theme of the sequel as "patiently waiting," which contrasts with the more active motto of the first film.
