A new Twitter account for the Kinnikuman franchise announced on Friday that a new anime is in the works to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original TV anime, which premiered in April 1983. The account also shared an image of the upcoming anime.
To celebrate the anniversary, an exhibition will be held at Tokyo Tower from March 18 to April 2. The manga creator duo Yudetamago revived their original Kinnikuman wrestling manga as a free web manga in 2011 and continued the story from 1979 where it had left off in 1987. The original manga has inspired various anime TV series and films over the years.
