A new Twitter account for the Kinnikuman franchise announced Friday that a new anime was in the works to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original TV anime, which premiered in April 1983. The account also shared a picture of the upcoming anime.

To celebrate the anniversary, an exhibition will be held at Tokyo Tower from March 18 to April 2. Manga creator duo Yudetamago relaunched their original Kinnikuman Wrestling manga as a free web manga in 2011, picking up the 1979 story where it left off in 1987. The original manga has inspired various anime television series and films over the years.
