With the release of a trailer on Monday, studio TMS Entertainment announced the production of a new anime based on Monkey Punch's popular manga Lupine III. The project is titled Lupin Zero and will consist of six episodes that will air online starting in December. Cast, music themes and streaming services to be announced at a later date.
Lupine Zero tells a story that's both nostalgic and original, finally lifting the veil on the humble beginnings of Lupine III, loosely based on the young Lupine III from the original manga. Set in the period when the original series was first published, the anime features young Lupine III running through the streets of 1960s Japan while the country is booming economically.
A young man climbs the ladder to villain status - what was he thinking and what steps did he take? This is the untold story of the origin of the world's greatest thief.
