For the upcoming new edition of the anime classic "High School! Kimengumi" (Japanese title: Haisukūru! Kimengumi), extensive new material has been presented. This includes the official key visual, a new main trailer, as well as details about the music and ten additional voice actors.

The published key visual shows the five members of the "Kimengumi" in eccentric poses. In the background, other well-known characters from the series such as the heroines Yui Kawakawa and Chie Uru can be seen.

The new main trailer offers a lively look into the energetic world of the series and also presents the theme songs. The background music in the trailer is by composer Taku Iwasaki.

Two acts have been secured for the musical accompaniment of the series:

The opening song is the title "Funky Spice feat. TOMOO", a collaboration between the alternative funk band BREIMEN and the singer-songwriter TOMOO. The artists stated that the energetic and humorous atmosphere of the series directly inspired them.

The ending song "Sutekii!!" is contributed by the up-and-coming duo 離婚伝説 (Rikon Densetsu). The band expressed being honored to design the ending for such a classic.

The cast of the series has been expanded by ten more voices, who portray teachers, classmates, and family members of the main characters.

- Kōsuke Toriumi as Harumage Don, a former elementary school classmate of the protagonist Rei.
- Yōko Hikasa as Ikarimasu Yo, the strict but caring teacher from middle school times.
- Yui Horie as Wakato Ran, the somewhat out-of-touch teacher at the high school.
- Tomokazu Sugita as Jidai Sakugo, the serious and somewhat old-fashioned guidance counselor.

The new voices further include Katsuyuki Konishi, Shō Hayami, Fumiya Imai, Junya Enoki, Mami, and Yui Ishikawa as various high school classmates. Yōji Ueda, Kanna Nakamura, and Yūki Okada complete the ensemble as the family of the protagonist Rei Ichido.

The series is a new adaptation of the cult manga by Motoaki Niizawa, which was first published in the 1980s under the title "3-nen Kimengumi" and was later renamed to "High School! Kimengumi". The story revolves around a group of five high school students who see their perceived "ugly" appearance as a special strength and, with their motto "Rather be the spice that seasons the world than a small cog in the machine", cause chaos and warmth.

Direction is by Kazuyoshi Seki, who is primarily known for music videos and live-action films and is making his TV anime debut here. The main roles, already known previously, are portrayed by a prominent voice cast, including Tomokazu Seki, Shunsuke Takeuchi, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Chiaki Kobayashi, and Kikunosuke Toya as the "Kimengumi". Haruka Shiraishi and Ikumi Hasegawa voice the female lead roles Yui and Chie.
