New Main Visual for "Chiikawa" Film: Shimajiro Crosses His Arms, All Characters Gather

The main visual for the theatrical film "Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island" (original title: "映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ") has been released. The illustration showcases all the well-known characters from the popular series. Among them are Chiikawa holding a strange red object, Hachiware with a determined look and a pole weapon, and Usagi with the island weapon "Binyoyo." Also depicted are the characters Rakko, Momonga, the secondhand bookstore, Kurimanju, and Shisa. The image further reveals the sirens and mermaids crucial to the story, the island residents Hitoha and Futaba holding hands, and Shimajiro crossing his arms while wearing an apron that reads "Flavor with Pride."

The film adapts the popular "Siren Episode" from the pen of author Nagano, who fully oversees the production. The animation is handled by Studio CygamesPictures, with direction by Kei Oikawa. The main roles are once again voiced by Haruka Aoki (Chiikawa), Makoto Tanaka (Hachiware), and Ari Ozawa (Usagi). The film is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on July 24, 2026.
