New Material and Start Date for "You think you can defeat the Demon Lord? So I was kicked out of the Hero Party and want to live a carefree life in the Royal Capital"

For the anime adaptation of the series "You think you can defeat the Demon Lord? So I was kicked out of the Hero Party and want to live a carefree life in the Royal Capital" (Japanese title: Omaegotoki ga Maō ni Kateru to Omou na to Yūsha Pātī o Tsuihō Sareta node, Ōto de Kimama ni Kurashitai), a start date and first visual previews have been announced. The series is scheduled to start on January 8, 2026.

Two official image visuals and an image trailer have been released. The two pictures represent a special feature: One version shows the protagonists Flem and Milkitt under a blue sky, accompanied by an optimistic line of text. An alternative, "inverted" version changes the color scheme of the scenery and gives the same text a darker undertone. This contrast reflects the central motif of the plot.

The released trailer offers first animated scenes and depicts the daily life of the characters as well as their relationships with each other. Furthermore, the ending song of the series is introduced. The title "I Need" is performed by the singer Yuki Tanaka.

The story is based on a successful light novel series by Zappon with illustrations by Yasumo. It is described as a dark fantasy adventure. The protagonist Flem is expelled from the hero's party due to his alleged uselessness. In his despair, he discovers his only, mysterious talent: the ability of "Inversion" (Invert). With this power, he begins to radically change his fate and his life. The series combines action with the themes of revenge and new beginnings.
