Fans of the novel series Mirage Queen (Kaitō Queen) were delighted when they learned at the Sunday event "Mirage Queen Prefers Parties" that a new anime adaptation of the series will be released. The announcement came as a surprise even to the original author of the series, Kaoru Hayamine.

The novels revolve around a phantom thief queen who can steal anything she desires. Alongside her partners Joker and RD, she travels the world in an airship, but her gender, age, and nationality remain unknown.

The first short story of Kaitō Queen was published by Kadokawa in 2000, while the first full-length novel, Mirage Queen Prefers Circus (Kaitō Queen wa Circus ga Osuki), was released in March 2002. The anime adaptation of "Mirage Queen Prefers Circus" premiered last June. The new series has fans eagerly awaiting the next adventures of the Mirage Queen.
