For the anime series The Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) based on the original work by Mokumoku Ren, the opening and ending sequences without credits have now been released. The theme songs used are "Saikai" by Vaundy for the opening and "Anata wa Kaibutsu" by TOOBOE for the ending.
The visual design of the opening is based on a color concept personally designed by Mokumoku Ren. Real-film elements were added to the ending sequence. Both sequences were first shown in the second episode of the series.
Director Yoshihira Takeshita and Mokumoku Ren commented on the released videos in separate statements. Additionally, a special presentation of both sequences will be shown on a large-format screen in Tokyo's Shinju district starting July 14.
The series is based on a manga of the same name, which has been serialized since 2021 and has already received several awards. The story follows a young man confronted with the sudden death of his friend – and an eerie reunion.
