New PV for "Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo": Galileo Galilei Sings OP, Mami Kakudo Contributes ED

The anime adaptation of Akira Konno's manga "Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo" (When Kujima Sings, the House Gurgles) has received a release date and a new trailer. As revealed in the new main PV, the series will premiere on Japanese television on April 9, 2026. At the same time, the two theme songs and their performers were announced.

The approximately 90-second clip offers further glimpses into the daily life of the Koda family and their unusual tenant. It shows, among other things, the first encounter between middle school student Arata and the bird-like being Kujima at a vending machine, as well as various scenes of their chaotic cohabitation. The video is accompanied by excerpts from the new theme songs.

The opening theme titled "Komorebi-zaka" is by the indie rock band Galileo Galilei, which has previously contributed to anime series such as "Anohana" and "Haikyu!!". The ending "Hororo Shouyou" was contributed by Mami Kakudo, who is also responsible for composing the series' music. Both songs will be released for digital download in advance on April 10 at 0:00 (JST).

Statements from those involved are available regarding the song releases. Author Akira Konno expressed his delight that Galileo Galilei, the very band he had long wished for an adaptation, is contributing the OP. He describes "Komorebi-zaka" as cool yet warm and feels it perfectly expands the world of Kujima. The ending by Mami Kakudo allows him to view Arata and Kujima as if from a distance; her voice and the instrumentation, reminiscent of birdsong and rustling trees, leave a gentle echo.

Galileo Galilei vocalist Yuuki Ozaki explained that reading the source material reawakened feelings from his youth—those sensations when he watched birds in the sky and pondered the world. He tried to capture this melancholy and the story's atmosphere in the music. He is especially pleased that Konno has been a fan of the band for a long time.

Composer Mami Kakudo, in turn, hopes that viewers will step out of the story with different eyes after watching the series. Her ending is intended to function like a kind of apparatus that enables this shift in perspective.

The TV broadcast of "Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo" begins on April 9, 2026, at 23:30 on Tokyo MX. Premieres will follow on MBS, BS-TBS, and AT-X, among others. Shortly after midnight, the simulcast starts on U-NEXT and Anime Hōdai; other services will follow from April 13.

The anime adaptation is being produced at Studio Hibari under the direction of Noriyuki Nomata. Series composition is handled by Yasunori Yamada, and character design is by Sakurako Mitsuhashi. The music is composed by Mami Kakudo, as mentioned. The main cast features Yuria Kozuki as Kujima and Ayumu Murase as Arata Koda. Additional voice roles are performed by Yohei Azakami, Ryoko Shiraishi, Hirofumi Nojima, and Nene Hieda.

The source material by Akira Konno was serialized in Shogakukan's magazine "Gessan" from September 2021 to April 2024 and comprises five compiled volumes. The story revolves around the troubled Koda family, into whose house the strange being Kujima one day moves, gradually turning family life upside down.
