The team behind the original anime "Sayonara Lara" has released new details about the series through a second main PV. It reveals three additional voice actors as well as the performer of the opening theme. The anime is being produced by Studio Kinema Citrus to commemorate the studio's 15th anniversary and is scheduled to premiere in July 2026.

The approximately one-minute PV begins with the red-haired mermaid princess Lara, who gazes at a prince underwater and dreams of the human world. Subsequently, the sea god Rowan sternly warns her against approaching humans, leaving Lara appearing desperate. She questions whether humans are truly such ugly beings and ultimately accepts a glowing potion from the witch Grace. Further scenes show Lara on land surrounded by high school boxer Mari Otsu and other residents of Shiga Prefecture. The video ends with Lara's emotional confession: "I loved a human—you."

Alongside the new trailer, additional voice roles were announced. Tomohiro Ohno ("Overtake!") voices the boxer Shoya Otsu, Mari's older brother. His father Makoto is voiced by Mitsuaki Madono ("Boruto," "Bleach"), and the grandmother Ema by Nanae Sumitomo. Masaki Terasoma ("One Piece," "Attack on Titan") lends his voice to the misanthropic sea king, Rowan.

The successful J-Pop band Ikimono-gakari has been secured for the opening theme, whose title song is also called "Sayonara Lara." A snippet of it can already be heard in the new PV.

Additionally, a stage event was announced for June 20 in Osaka (Umeda, "Chayamachi Oshi Festival 2026"), where lead actress Hana Hishikawa (Lara), Nana Kawaishi (Mari Otsu), and the new voice actor Tomohiro Ohno will discuss the series.

The voice actors and the band expressed their excitement in written statements. Ikimono-gakari describe the song as a reflection on the difficulty of choosing one's own path—with courage, determination, and the desire for a self-determined life before finally finding peace.
