New video footage and additional scene photos have been released for the second film of "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime," titled "Tears of the Azure Sea" (Japanese original title: Gekijō-ban Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Sōkai no Namida-hen). The latest images highlight a segment focusing on the relationship between Yura, a shrine maiden from the underwater kingdom of Kaien, and the character Gobta.
In the newly released sequence, Gobta and Yura are seen on the observation deck of a resort island, enjoying a peaceful moment. This idyll is disrupted, however, by the appearance of Zodon, the minister of Kaien, and his subordinates. Their goal is to reclaim a flute called "Dragon's Tooth." As Yura and Gobta attempt to flee, Yura falls from the outer wall of the observation deck. Without a moment's hesitation, Gobta jumps after her.
A released still captures another moment of the duo: it shows Yura and Gobta standing together against an evening sky.
The film is set after the founding of the Jura-Tempest Federation. Invited by Elmesia, the ruler of the elven nation Sarion, Rimuru and other high-ranking Tempest representatives spend their vacation on a resort island in Sarion. The peaceful holiday takes an unexpected turn when the girl Yura appears.
The film's production is once again handled by Studio 8-Bit. The director is Yasuhito Kikuchi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Toshizō Nemoto. The original film story is based on an idea by series creator Fuse, who also oversaw the production extensively. The expanded voice cast includes Saori Ōnishi as Yura and Koichi Domoto as Zodon.
