The anime adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s historical manga Kingdom will continue with a sixth season, airing on NHK General starting October 2024. A first key visual shows the protagonist Xin (Shin) with the lance of the deceased general Ouki, symbolizing his growing responsibility in the struggle for supremacy in ancient China.

The story picks up after the events of the fifth season, in which the Qin army under General Huan Yi (Kan Ki) conquered the strategically crucial region Kokuyou (Black Sheep Plateau). In the new season, the conflict between the states of Qin and Zhao escalates, with three united armies led by Generals Ousen (Wang Jian), Huan Yi, and Yotanwa (Yang Duan He) launching coordinated attacks. At the same time, young commanders like Xin, Mouten (Meng Tian), and Ouhon (Wang Ben) take on independent roles as mobile units tasked with securing key positions in the campaign.

The manga, serialized in Weekly Young Jump since 2006, depicts the ambitions of the orphaned boy Xin and the future emperor Ying Zheng (Ei Sei) during the turbulent Warring States period. The anime adaptation began in 2012 and established itself as a staple of the genre through epic battle scenes and political intrigue.
